BK AK

(precious Lils licking the fridge...no idea why)

BK = Before Kids

BK I would get grossed out when I saw Mommy's use their shirts or heck even own bare hands to wipe their kids noses!

BK I would wonder why parents couldn't control their screaming kid in a restaurant.

BK I would shake my head at parents who's kids were up past 9 pm.

BK I would get grossed out when I saw babies eating dog food.

BK I would tsk tsk at Mom's who brought their infant into the movies.

BK I couldn't understand why Mommy's said they never got a shower or any sleep most days.

BK I couldn't understand why when I babysat I would find jelly sandwiches stuffed in the couch.

BK I couldn't understand how parents let their kids put things in their noses.

BK I couldn't understand how the Moms in the grocery stores ignored their screaming child in the buggy.

Then I had my first child.....

AK = After Kids

AK I realized you will use anything you have handy to wipe your baby's nose.

AK I realized your child waits to scream until you sit down to a meal in a restaurant b/c obviously you like people staring at you and wondering why you can't control your child.

AK I realized that sometimes babies don't always follow a schedule...and you might have to take a ride in the car to make them pass out.

AK I realized that the ingredients on dog food isn't really any different then some of the stuff us humans eat.

AK I realized Moms are people too and why should they wait until their kids leave for college to see another flick at the cinema.

AK I realized that showers are a precious thing and have mastered getting a shower in under 2 mins.

AK I realized I can clean and clean and yet when you turn your back for 1 second your sweet angels put food in places you would never guess.

AK I realized that kids can find the smallest object in a stack of hay and explore their body parts w/it!

AK I realized that I can ignore even the loudest of tantrums to get my shopping done. Giving in doesn't help and hopefully after a few mins of screaming she will lose interest or her breath and quit!

4 kids later I have relaxed a lot. I sometimes want to high five other families in public and say...."Hey been there....don't worry we can't hear the crying either!!!"

I love Mommyhood!

This so made me smile :0) and even chuckle a little too. Although I'm 50 and an empty-nester now to one daughter who's 24...I do remember these times. One that comes to mind is a runny nose in public situation in which I had nothing but my hand to wipe it off her little face with...well then what do you do...? It's on your hand! So I quickly put my hand in the pocket of my jeans and wiped it inside there! All done! Hey you do what you have to do, right?
No one was the wiser as to what was in my pocket.

Thanks for your visit to my blog. I welcome you back anytime...we'll bake something together and talk about the kids! :)

Blessings to you!
This is so true-and yet, so cute!
